My imagination, guys). &nbsp;He is attracted to his neighbor, Laura, but doesn&#8217;t want to take the next step. &nbsp;Feels he has too much emotional baggage.<\/p>\n<p>To tease you, here is an excerpt from Ch. 1:<br \/><a name='more'><\/a><br \/>Excerpt from Det. Nick Larson novel, copyrighted material:<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">Tish Ramos methodically closed the evidence paper bag, labeled it, and turned her attention to the men.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>Her eyes captured Nick\u2019s six-foot image in a swift up-and-down.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>Larson knew he looked like a recently crumpled paper bag, black hair combed with impatient fingers to give it some sort of order, his angular face already displaying his usual five o\u2019clock shadow.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>He hadn\u2019t had time to shave or dress neatly, as was his habit.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>After shift, he\u2019d fallen face down on his couch and hadn\u2019t moved until the call had come in twenty minutes ago.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>For once, he\u2019d been grateful for the call.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>It had interrupted stalking nightmares. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">\u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d Tish asked.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>\u201cYou guys work domestic.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">\u201cFlu,\u201d Nick croaked, gagged, and rubbed his eyes.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>He watched as one of the most meticulous women in SID neatly deposited evidence into what the department euphemistically called doggy bags.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>As usual, Ramos looked sterile, dressed sterile, and breathed sterile.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: .5in;\">\u201cCaptain\u2019s been juggling a domino meltdown with personnel calling in sick,\u201d Nick told her.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>\u201cWe\u2019re it for a while.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">&nbsp; <\/span>Not that I mind, but why the personal touch here, Ramos?
