POSTCARD FROM THE PAST

Talk about a throwback Thursday! This goes to show how long I have been at the creative writing business. Below is a picture of a postcard I sent to my friend Rita in Spain. It dates back to 1974 and shows that I entered a novella in a writing contest sponsored by the English Department at Queens College in NY, where I was attending at the time. It also says I was taking 16 credits. Ah, youth! Can’t do that any more. Of course, my amateurish paranormal novella didn’t win the $1,000 prize, or any prize for that matter, but it began a lifelong endeavor to become a published writer.

It is truly awesome, despite the ups and downs of life, to know I have achieved, not only publication of my novels, but also the title “award-winning.” Perseverance. Perseverance.
