If you are looking for a good holiday read, look no further!

The Christmas Calamity

Shanna Hatfield (Hardman Holidays Book 3), releasing Nov. 13.
Genre: Romance (Sweet Historical Western)

Dependable and solid, Arlan Guthry relishes his orderly life as a banker’s assistant in Hardman, Oregon.

His uncluttered world spins off kilter when the beautiful and enigmatic prestidigitator Alexandra Janowski arrives in town, spinning magic and trouble in her wake as the holiday season approaches. Will he be able to convince her to give up her nomadic lifestyle for one full of love?

Excerpt

Mr. Arlan Guthry looked like a man who needed his neatly combed hair mussed and his perfectly starched shirt rumpled.
Under less trying circumstances, Alex would have enjoyed the opportunity to do both with some of her magic tricks. However, a broken wagon wheel and a need to get back on the road left no time for distractions regardless of how handsome the diversion might be. She had a handful of men eager to inflict harm upon her and no idea if they’d found her trail.

Author Interview

What is your favorite setting in any book you’ve written and why?
Pendleton, Oregon, in the Pendleton Petticoats series is my favorite setting. The series begins in 1899 as the town heads into a great boom of both population and businesses. There were so many exciting things taking place during that first decade of the 20th century in Pendleton. Although it was a Wild West town, it held an interesting mix of culture with a tearoom, French restaurant, and a theater.
Who is your favorite hero you’ve written and why?
My favorite hero is Travis Thompson from The Cowboy’s Summer Love, the third book in the Grass Valley series. Travis returns home to the family ranch after serving in Iraq, suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He refuses to acknowledge his problem and get help until something devastating happens to make him realize he has to change or lose everything he loves. He’s my favorite hero because he overcomes so much and has such a good heart.
Who is your favorite villain you’ve written and why?
My favorite villain is Zeus from the QR Code Killer. He’s twisted, diabolical, and adds such a great element of intrigue and suspense to the story. Writing such a nasty character was definitely a stretch for me.
